Leaving the U.S. for Tanzania: A Journey to Freedom, Creativity, and a New Life

If someone had told me years ago that I’d be living in Tanzania, running a business, and embracing a life of creativity and adventure, I might have laughed. But life has a way of surprising us when we dare to step outside our comfort zones.
I didn’t move to Tanzania on a whim. In 2020, as the world seemed to spiral into chaos, I found myself craving peace, freedom, and a fresh start. The stress, the division, and the high cost of living in the U.S. made me question everything. I wanted something different—something simpler, more fulfilling.
At first, moving abroad was just an idea, a quiet whisper in the back of my mind. But the more I researched, the more I realized that Africa—Tanzania, in particular—offered exactly what I was looking for: a slower pace of life, a lower cost of living, and a chance to truly breathe.
So, I took the leap.
Adjusting to life here has been an adventure—one filled with learning, growth, and unexpected joys. I’ve started a business, explored new creative passions, and redefined what it means to thrive in my late 50s. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been worth it.
This blog is where I’ll share that journey—the ups, the downs, and everything in between. If you’ve ever dreamed of making a big change, I hope my story inspires you to go for it. Because sometimes, the life you truly want is waiting for you in the most unexpected places.
